A director at an independent commercial property consultancy in Hampshire has been appointed to the South East regional board of the world’s leading body for property professionals.
Russell Mogridge, from Hughes Ellard, which has offices in Southampton and Fareham, joins RICS South East in a non-executive capacity.
RICS, which stands for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, was formed in 1868.
RICS delivers the world’s leading professional qualification in land, property and construction and is the governing body to more than 100,000 qualified professionals worldwide.
The regional board is active in a range of issues, from advising on the organisation’s external affairs activity in the region to developing membership, and advising on market and economic matters.
Russell said: “RICS is the pre-eminent organisation of its kind and one of my roles on the board will be to provide a focus for local surveyors and promote the profession.”
He will also be a spokesman in the South East for the commercial property market, commenting to the media on property-related news, including for Hampshire.
The region encompasses Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, the Channel Islands, Kent, Surrey, and East and West Sussex.
Members of RICS are chartered surveyors and are entitled to use MRICS after their names.
RICS’ regional director, Luay Al-Khatib, said: ”It’s great to have Russell on board. His market insight, commitment to our professional goals and his excellent contacts in the region make him a really valuable asset to the team.
“The board has a key role to play in driving awareness of the crucial role real estate plays in the regional economy, and, as the UK swings back into growth, we will be urging investors and developers to remain committed to the high standards which RICS demands of its members.”
Two months ago 22-strong Hughes Ellard, the largest independent commercial real estate consultancy on the South Coast, topped the annual leader board for office floor space let or sold over one year on the M27 Corridor.
In a separate development last month, Hughes Ellard’s managing director, Gary Jeffries, was elected as the new chairman of the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), which aims to create growth and inward investment in the region.
