A local Financial Director is celebrating success following the BDO Hot 20 FDs in TMT awards dinner last night in London.
Novatech’s Duncan Payne-Shelley was honoured at the event which saw 70 FDs and CFOs from across the UK be nominated for the top 20 accolade.
The Hot 20 FDs in TMT report by accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP reveals that the most successful FDs are helping companies expand into new sectors and markets through an increase in M&A activity.
The report praises Duncan Payne-Shelley for holding much more than a number crunching role at Portsmouth-based Novatech and was said to be “as much COO as FD”. He has been heavily involved in developing the company’s ‘special projects’, which has resulted in a number of significant contracts wins within the aerospace and defence sectors in the last 12 months.
Paul Anthony, partner at BDO LLP, said: “This year’s competition has revealed that the mindset of FDs is changing. We’re now seeing them pushing the topline rather than squeezing the bottom line.
