Rampworld Cardiff, the only indoor bike, skateboard and scooter park in Cardiff, is to be set up in an industrial unit in Llanishen, in the north of the city.
The new social business has been set up as a registered charity by bike track builder Jason Carpenter, who has leased the 27,450 sq ft Unit B in Parc Ty Glas on a five year lease at an annual rental rising to £85,000 per annum.
He is currently working on fitting the building with the tracks, ramps and equipment required for BMX and mountain bikes, skateboards and scooters. Jason said: “I have been looking for the right building to do this for a number of years. The business is set up as a non-profit making charity which will simply need to generate enough funds to repay my initial set up investment, plus ongoing rent and operating expenses.”
Landlord Searchgrade was advised by letting agent Knight Frank and Neil Francis, industrial associate at Knight Frank, said: “The rental agreement is structured to be at much lower levels in the early years of the lease and this was attractive to Jason and the Rampworld business model.”
The building was formerly an indoor five-a-side soccer centre.
