Charities across the Solent region are to benefit thanks to rocking performances from the professional services’ community in Southampton.
Five bands took part in the annual Solent Rocks! Best Band 2013 competition, which attracted a full house at The Brook, a live music venue in Portswood, Southampton.
Hundreds of supporters cheered as eventual winners, 11-strong Eclectic Zoo, comprising staff from legal firm Blake Lapthorn and with a full brass section.
Hughe Fighters, from commercial property consultancy Hughes Ellard, roared to second place.
Other bands vying for top gun were No Accounting For Taste (accountancies James Cowper and BDO), Five Bar (barristers 3PB) and Contraband (chartered surveyors Primmer Olds).
Four regional charities – the Rainbow Centre, The Rowans Hospice, Wessex Cancer and Naomi House hospice – are to benefit from the event, which was hosted by Blake Lapthorn.
Russell Mogridge, a director at Hughes Ellard, the Hampshire-based firm with offices in Southampton and Fareham, said: “It was a great night, with all the bands delivering entertainment and style to the 300-strong audience and occasionally bemused judging panel.”
He added: “We qualified as the highest-scoring non-legal firm to appear at the Law Society’s Law Rocks! Battle of the Bands in London at the legendary 100 Club. No pressure then…”
