A seminar is being held in Southampton on the financial issues that equity partners with professional practices firms in Hampshire should consider before deciding to retire.
The complimentary event is being held by the South Coast office of Smith & Williamson, the accountancy and investment management group.
The seminar will take place on Thursday, December 5 from 8am to 10am, at the firm’s 18-21 Kings Park Road office.
Richard Green, managing partner of the Southampton office, said: “Those approaching retirement often require assistance to understand the many different ways that they can begin to take income from their investments and withdraw their pensions.
“Retirement from the partnership itself, managing the vesting process of pensions and switching the focus of investment to generating income all require careful planning.
“Couple this with the ever-changing rules, plus the implications of tax and the economic outlook on retirement, and a busy professional has much to consider.”
The seminar, aimed at equity partners approaching retirement and those advising clients on this area, qualifies for 1.5 hours of continuing professional development (CPD).
It is aimed at delegates with or without prior knowledge of the subject matter who want to gain a better understanding of the underlying topics.
Speakers from Smith & Williamson are Claire Perrett (tax services to business), Mark Garnett (investment management) and Sharon Grubb (personal financial planning and employee benefits).
