Care services and opportunities for volunteering in the county have been given a boost, thanks to a deal structured by Lincoln-based chartered surveyor Banks Long & Co.
The Gables – period offices in Union Street, Market Rasen – has been let to
Focus Ability Support & Care Services.
The move marks an expansion for the Care Quality Commission-registered
company, which offers its services to people living in both the Lincoln and
West Lindsey areas, including Gainsborough, Market Rasen, Louth and the
surrounding villages.
Focus Ability Regional Manager Rachael Wood-Raw said the business, which
also has an office in Dunholme, looks after people in their own homes and
within the community.
Services provided include everything from personal care to housework, shopping
and respite care.
“We are keen to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding of people
living in rural and isolated areas and we have supportive volunteers who work
with individuals and their families/carers in their own homes and we can now also
offer day centre services withour new premises,” said Mrs Wood-Raw.
Anybody with a need can get in touch with Focus Ability independently or
they may be signposted to its services by health and social care professionals (www.mychoicemycare.org.uk)
“We offer an holistic service with the aim of helping people, ranging from the
elderly to people with learning and physical disabilities to live their lives in the
way which they want to,” she said.
“Now we have our Market Rasen centre, we also offer a day centre facility
for people – where they can learn new skills and have support to do volunteer
work and get involved in other activities including life skills, photography,
gardening, complementary therapies and IT.
“This short-term respite care is a service which we would like to expand to
overnight stays.”
Banks Long & Co surveyor Jonathan Purkiss said: “We are pleased to have
assisted Focus Ability & Care Services with its expansion. As soon as the
business registered its enquiry, we knew that these premises would be ideally
suited to its needs.
“Focus Ability & Care Services’ arrival complements the steady growth of the
business community in Market Rasen where regeneration efforts have been
supported by its success in winning Mary Portas Pilot funding.”
