Three lettings have been secured by commercial property consultant Innes England at the same Derbyshire business centre.
Innes England is acting as agent for real estate asset managers M7 at the Viking Business Centre near Swadlincote.
Two of the recent lettings are to operations moving into their first business premises – East Midlands Couriers and welding supplies and services provider Arc Industries.
The firms have been joined on the estate by Eurogel which has relocated its established refrigeration equipment and parts business from Nottingham.
Tim Richardson, associate director at Innes England said: “Securing three lettings in a relatively short period of time on the same business park demonstrates healthy activity in this area of the market. The fact that two are first time business premises is encouraging as it shows local firms have confidence to take on units.
“Viking Business Centre continues to be popular due to its convenient location and well-presented modern units available on flexible terms.”
Arc Industries owner Edward Peake has his own personal inspiration to make a success of his fledgling business which moved into the 1,300 sq ft unit 7. He revealed his grandfather, Bill, had been the driving force behind his commitment to going into business for himself.
“My grandfather was a welder and engineer during the Suez conflict and then set up his own small workshop at the Old Mill in Derby before it became university flats.
“He inspired me to get into the welding trade and encouraged me to set up in business. He spotted the unit at Viking Business Centre as an ideal location and although I was absolutely terrified he gave me the inspiration to go for it.
“Innes England made the process less daunting and when the first unit I wanted was already taken they helped me find the unit we have now which has worked out very well for us.”
Eurogel was established 24 years ago and is a leading distributor of refrigeration equipment and spare parts for supermarkets. The firm has taken a three-year lease on unit 3 which is 1,500 sq ft.
Owner Peter Brown has decades of experience in the refrigeration equipment sector but at the age of 80 is ready to hand over the reins to his sons Adam and Andrew supported by his wife Denise.
Peter said: “I wanted to relocate the business from Nottingham nearer to home in Derby and had been to Viking Business Centre and knew it was right for me.
“Once I had found the right unit it all moved quickly which was crucial for us to meet our customers’ demands.”
East Midlands Couriers initially moved into one of the smaller units on the estate before relocating to a larger 1,300 sq ft unit. The company offers dedicated vehicles for deliveries and provides a same and next day delivery service to the UK and Europe.
Innes England is handling the letting of the two remaining units at Viking Business Centre – unit 1 at 1,700 sq ft and unit 12A at 600 sq ft.
