Willmott Dixon in the South West, the firm responsible for the construction of the £20million Regents Arcade Shopping Centre and the £6.8 million Bristol Technology and Engineering Academy, has won a place on the Construction Framework South West.
Eleven principal contractors have been appointed to this £500 million framework and Willmott Dixon is one of two new contractors to win a place.
This framework provides an efficient and effective building procurement vehicle for public construction in the South West Region. The contractors chosen for this framework have been evaluated both on quality and pricing information and have been measured on the quality of their proposals to work with clients to deliver a range of projects in a collaborative manner, with an emphasis on value and predictability of cost, time and quality.
The benefits to users of the framework include significant procurement cost savings, early contractor engagement, more timely and efficient programme delivery, reduced overall construction cost and greater predictability of outcomes.
Neal Stephens, managing director of Willmott Dixon, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed to this framework. We will now have an opportunity to work on so many other projects in the region which will certainly benefit local job growth – as we are strong believers in employing local contractors, suppliers and subcontractors where possible – allowing the wider community and local businesses to benefit from our larger projects.
“Construction sites can often have a significant implication to the immediate locality and so it is important that companies, like ours look at ways to engage local communities as much as possible – and this approach to recycling the local pound is something that we are proud.”
