A special seminar is being held in Southampton – aimed at business professionals looking to the future in light of reductions in tax allowances amid national austerity measures.
The complimentary event is being hosted by the South Cost practice of Smith & Williamson, the accountancy and investment management group, at its office in Kings Park Road on Thursday, October 17 from 8am to 10am.
Richard Green, the managing partner at Smith & Williamson in Southampton, and one of the four speakers from the firm, said: “The need to raise taxes has led to a stream of recent changes to tax relief on pensions, the latest of which will be introduced on April 6 next year.
“They include reductions in the annual and lifetime allowance from £50,000 to £40,000 and £1.5m to £1.25m respectively.
“In some circumstances, elections will have to be made by those who want to protect their pension savings to the extent that they currently exceed or might exceed the revised limits in future.
“These latest changes will draw in significantly more people than previous ones and we will explain their immediate effect on savers, assess strategies for mitigating their impact and explain how failure to take appropriate action could be costly for your future retirement.”
