Construction of a £3.5 million neighbourhood retail centre in Stockmoor Village in Bridgwater has been completed on schedule, with four retail units now occupied and strong interest in the remaining three units.
Acting on behalf of Henry Davidson Developments, the retail development specialist and part of the Development Securities group, Alder King secured pre-lets to The Southern Co-Operative as the scheme’s anchor tenant as well as Barnardo’s Charity and an independent fast food operator. The latest tenant to sign up to the scheme is John Ware Limited, a pharmacy operator that has taken Unit 3 on a 10 year lease.
The three remaining units each provide 1,000 sq ft of space with consent for retail, hot food takeaway, café/restaurant, financial and professional services and community service operators.
The scheme also includes 16 apartments above the retail units and 33 dedicated shopper car parking spaces. A care home is also proposed. The development provides a valuable community focus for the 1,400 new homes and primary school in Stockmoor Village and Wilstock Village that are being developed as part of the South Bridgwater master plan.
Emma Smith of Alder King commented: “This exciting new development is now a reality and acting as a vital hub for the local community. Demand for the available units has been very strong from national and regional occupiers seeking good quality space with a ready market on the doorstep and with four tenants now in place, we expect interest to continue.”
Andy Radford of HDD commented: “We are really proud of what we have achieved at Stockmoor Village. It is an attractive scheme with a good mix of shops and facilities in a convenient location for the local community.”
