Ian McRae , a chartered surveyor based in Northampton, has been nominated by his peers from the Industrial Agents Society (IAS) as the winner of the ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Industry’ award at the 24th Annual IAS Awards ceremony at the Park Lane Hotel, in London’s West End.
The award, which is a new category for the 2011 Awards, is presented to an individual nominated by the IAS membership who, in their opinion, justifies being acknowledged as having made an exceptional and outstanding contribution to the property sector over the last 12 months.
Gyles Brandreth, who hosted the IAS Awards, summed up the views of the membership and final judging panel by saying, “they were particularly impressed by this agent who, in a difficult and tight market, was able to make a deal happen that seemed almost impossible at first. This person found an occupied property, negotiated a surrender of the lease with the landlord and the tenant, and also obtained a reverse premium for his client.”
Ian admits that he was taken aback by the accolade: “I was shocked but really pleased to be recognised by my peers in this way. It has certainly been a challenging time in the industry over the last couple of years. I think most agents believe that professionalism and hard work will pay off, with deals being done despite the economic climate, but I certainly never expected to be rewarded in this wonderful way.”
Ian has been a member of the IAS since 1991 and is an active member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), sitting on RICS’ Governing Council, its Communications Board, as well as serving as a local spokesperson on property-related matters.
