A team of staff from leadership development specialists Acua Solutions will be joined by businesses from across the West Midlands to climb two of the UK’s tallest mountains for charity later this month.
As well as tackling Scarfell Pike and Ben Nevis on foot, the group will also be cycling approximately 275 miles for the Acua Peak Performance Challenge, which takes place from September 11-15.
In addition to a team from Acua Solutions, based on Coventry Innovation Village, members of staff from West Midlands Fire Service, HS Marston Aerospace Ltd and Spirax Sarco will also be taking part in the trip, which is raising money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charities, Charge Family Support Group and Sue Ryder.
Celebrated explorer Mark Wood, who is based in Coventry, will also be lending his support by joining in with the walking and cycling marathon.
The Peak Performance Challenge will see the team arrive in the Lake District on September 11, before climbing Scarfell Pike and cycling to Carlisle the following day.
From there, the group will embark on a 120-mile cycle to Balloch, near Loch Lomond, on September 13 before pedalling for another 115 miles 24 hours later to Fort William. The final day will see the team climb Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles, which stands 1,344 metres above sea level.
Jeannine Mortlock, managing director of Acua Solutions, said: “The trip is going to be 297 miles in total and is going to be both physically and mentally gruelling. Those who are taking part are going to need mental toughness to complete the journey, which we are hoping will raise a lot of money for some very deserving causes.
“The kind of resilience the team will need to show is exactly what you need in modern business – the will to go longer, harder and stronger whilst being resilient, flexible and adaptable. Acua Solutions are pleased to be leading this trip, which we hope will bring out the very best leadership attributes in everyone competing.”
