Business event aims to help businesses trade with China

The South Wales Chamber of Commerce is aiming to help Welsh businesses make the most of opportunities in China, with a special international business session at Cardiff University on Monday 9 September.

The session will feature talks from Dr Xueyi Zhu, academic director of Confucius Institute at Cardiff University, Michael Thomas, Manager & China Business Adviser at the China-Britain Business Council, and Ruth Stockley, Business Development Manager (International Trade) at the Welsh Government.

Businesses will also have the opportunity to find out more about up-coming Welsh Government trade missions to Shanghai in November, and Chongqing in March 2014.

Graham Morgan, director of the South Wales Chamber of Commerce, said: “The need for businesses to explore overseas markets is particularly important in the current climate, and the Chinese market represents a largely untapped resource for businesses here in Wales.

“This event will aim to open businesses up to the opportunities that China has to offer, and give them an opportunity to network and forge new connections that will be of real value.

“It is the first of a series of international events we are holding over the next few months and I would urge businesses to visit our website to see the full itinerary.”

Introduction to China takes place in committee room 2, of Cardiff University’s Glamorgan building on Monday September 9 from 8:30am. Entry is £8 + VAT for members and £15 + VAT for non-members.
