The transformation of a former textile factory into a prestigious £6.4 million Hampton by Hilton hotel in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter has been completed, Anglo Holt Construction has announced.
The West Bromwich-based company, which has a long and successful record in hotel construction, was awarded the design and build contract by Mere Park to build a 109-bedroom hotel at Constitution Hill, Hockley.
Part of the listed façade of the existing building has been retained while the remainder of the existing factory has been demolished. The site’s boundaries include the Metrotram line to two elevations, a main road to the front, and a Grade II listed pub.
The development has been hailed as another vital element in the on-going regeneration of Birmingham.
Andy Elwell, managing director at Anglo Holt, said: “We are very pleased to announce that the new Hampton by Hilton hotel development in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter has been completed. It is another piece in the jigsaw of the regeneration of one of the most important parts of the city centre. Once again it demonstrates that clients value highly the experience and expertise Anglo Holt has gained in the hotel sector over many years.”
Luke Crane, Jewellery Quarter BID manager, said: “The extensive investment in the new Hampton by Hilton hotel is a very visible demonstration of business confidence in the Jewellery Quarter. Its close proximity to Snow Hill train station will provide an added incentive to visitors to spend a night or extended stay in the Quarter.”
Based in West Bromwich in the West Midlands, Anglo Holt has an annual turnover in excess of £50 million and employs around 100 people. Its objective is to guarantee to deliver quality, reliability and added value throughout the total process of design, construction, project management and cost management.
