One of the largest suppliers of amusement machines to public houses around the UK has opened a new base in the Black Country.
Sceptre Leisure Solutions has taken a 4,075 sq ft unit at Oldbury’s Springfield Estate, which is owned and managed by London and Cambridge Properties Ltd (LCP). It has relocated from a smaller, older building in Halesowen to larger, refurbished premises which will be used as a regional distribution depot.
The depot will serve the wider Midlands area – bordered by Crewe, Shrewsbury, Worcester and the M1 – and enable the company to grow its operation.
Commercial director Tony Yates said: “Springfield is ideally located as it has great access to the motorway network which is key for our business. Our supply and maintenance service requires us to be prompt in getting to our customers.
“Here we have a central location with great motorway access in all directions. The unit has been refurbished and it is 1,500 sq ft bigger than we had previously so we have room to grow. We looked at various options but these premises ticked all the boxes, including the ample free parking which we required for our fairly large fleet of cars.”
Sceptre Leisure Solutions is part of a £36 million turnover group and has its headquarters in Preston. Established in 1999, it employs 380 people and has 13 regional depots.
The company has more than 22,500 machines on hire throughout the UK, mainly to pubs, and supplies major pub operators such as J D Wetherspoon, Mitchells & Butlers, Marstons, Greene King and Punch.
The Springfield Estate is located just off the Birmingham Road (A457) in Oldbury and is less than two miles from Junction 2 of the M5. Three units from 5,383 to 10,913 sq ft are available for let.
Black Country-based LCP is one of the UK’s largest private owners of industrial, office and retail property. Its total commercial property portfolio runs to 14 million sq ft which is held for long term investment purposes.
