Celebrations are to be held in Bournemouth to mark the 50th anniversary of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx).
New President Stephen Gowland, his predecessor Nick Hanning, Vice President Fran Edwards and Chief Executive Officer Diane Burleigh are expected to join judges and other legal professionals for a drinks party on Thursday August 8.
The event, hosted by the Bournemouth & District Branch of CILEx, is to be held at the Bournemouth Highcliff Marriott hotel.
Sharala Lowe, Branch Chairman, said: “This is an opportunity for us to thank all the people who have so kindly supported CILEx over the years.”
CILEx is the professional association and governing body for chartered legal executive lawyers, other legal practitioners and paralegals. It has 20,000 members across the UK.
The Bournemouth & District Branch was formed in 1931 as the first regional branch and, besides being the oldest, is one of the most active and successful in the country.
Sharala became a legal executive in 2001 after joining Dorset and New Forest law firm Ellis Jones Solicitors. She qualified as a Fellow of CILEx in 2005.
“We aim to provide a variety of professional, social and training services for the benefit of our members while also representing CILEx in the local community,” said Sharala.
Nigel Smith, Ellis Jones’ Managing Partner, said: “As a firm we’re very proud to have Sharala as Chairman of the Bournemouth & District Branch of CILEx.
“Reaching a half century is no mean achievement. Our congratulations to CILEx on its anniversary and our best wishes to the Institute for the next 50 years.”
