Ferrari’s Coffee, the oldest coffee roasting company in Wales, has expanded into larger premises in Bridgend as the first stage of a major expansion plan which aims to create 40 new jobs.
The company, which supplies its own coffee and tea products plus coffee machines to customers across the UK, has moved into 2300 Central Park on Bridgend Industrial Estate from older premises at Penllwyngwent Industrial Estate in Ogmore Vale, Bridgend.
It has taken the modern 3,519 sq ft unit on a five year lease at an annual rental rising to £19,500 per annum. Landlord and developer Robert Hitchins Limited was advised on the deal by Knight Frank and Jones Lang LaSalle.
Ferraris is a longstanding Welsh-Italian company founded in the 1920s by the grandfather of current managing director Giancarlo Ferrari-Lane. Originally a bakery which at one stage employed 600 people, it later opened three restaurants. Now the business focuses solely on its coffee-roasting activities.
Giancarlo Ferrarri-Lane said: “The new premises at Central Park give us much greater production capacity and good access to the motorway, and will enable us to undertake an expansion plan which we hope will increase the number of employees from 10 to around 50 within four years.”
Neil Francis, Head of Industrial Agency at Knight Frank said: “There are just two units remaining available either for sale or to let in this terraced row of modern trade counter style units, at 3,800 sq ft and 6,750 sq ft. Central Park has done well during challenging market conditions and there is a wide range of tenants and owners in place including Edmundson Electrical and Biotec.”
David Aubrey of developer Robert Hitchins Limited, added: “We are pleased to welcome Ferrari’s Coffee to Central Park. Building on the success of the first phase of development, we have recently secured planning permission to construct a further four units totalling 15,300 sq ft and are talking to a number of interested parties for pre-lets.”
Heather Lawrence at Jones Lang LaSalle said: “Central Park is situated within the heart of Bridgend Industrial Estate, near to the M4 at Junction 35, and close to Bridgend town centre, so is easily accessible for employees and customers.”
