Marco Pierre-White – “The Godfather of modern cooking” and the youngest chef ever to have been awarded three Michelin stars – has applauded a Midlands city’s new initiative aimed at celebrating the breadth and excellence of its eateries, and encouraging food-lovers on a budget to dine out.
The Nottingham Business Improvement District’s highly anticipated Food & Drink Fortnight will take place from 3 to 17 August, when visitors will be encouraged to enjoy an excellent value £10 menu deal offered by Nottingham’s favourite city centre restaurants, cafes and bars. The details of the events and venues taking part, together with exclusive features, interviews and recipes showcasing Nottingham’s superb food and drink offering, will be brought together in a specially-created Food & Drink Fortnight guide, for which the world-renowned chef has written the foreword.
“Since opening my own Steakhouse Bar & Grill here, I’ve become more and more aware that Nottingham is a hugely creative, vibrant city with a thriving gastronomic scene,” says Mr Pierre-White, who visited his Nottingham restaurant at Alea Casino this week.
“For those who enjoy dining out, Nottingham’s Food & Drink Fortnight will open the doors to some of the most exciting and highly-regarding eateries in the UK, and it’s the ideal opportunity to try new surroundings, dishes and flavours. For the restaurateurs, it is a chance to highlight their quality and creativity, encouraging the all-important repeat business. This is a great initiative that truly celebrates the city’s passion for food and drink.”
With prize draw incentives to encourage people to take advantage of more than one £10 menu deal, free city centre parking after 6pm, and special deals on public transport, the Nottingham BID is expecting visitor numbers to be high.
