Power specialist, Powertecnique, has been awarded a £750,000 contract by main M&E contractors Relabond and consultants Elementa to supply an emergency power package to the new Women’s and Children’s Centre and Retained Estate at North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust. The new building forms part of an £50m+ redevelopment at the hospital, procured under the P21+ scheme, which is being delivered by Principal supply chain partner (PSCP) Kier.
As well as the Women’s and Children’s Centre, the Retained Estate will house 120 additional adult inpatient beds to accommodate additional emergency and maternity patients.
Powertecnique will supply three fully automated 1.25MVA generators to operate in n+1 configuration in parallel with the mains, a 60,000 litre fuel tank, silencers and attenuation.
Chris Hopkinson, Senior Project Engineer at Powertecnique, says: “Our remit is to design, install and provide maintenance for a complete solution, including how the fuel tank is set up and how the entire system will be connected. Before we start work, we will be factory witness-testing the generators which are bespoke-manufactured to meet the exact requirement of this project.”
Ian Segré, Technical Director at Elementa, says: “We recently worked with Powertecnique when they installed a temporary generator to a law firm at the Old Bailey. The team is particularly good to work with because they are extremely strong technically, can do everything from design through to service and maintenance, and we trust them to deliver.”
Work is due to start at the hospital wing in June 2013.
