South Wales Chamber launches competition to win place on Dubai trade mission

The South Wales Chamber of Commerce is calling on businesses across Wales to take part in a competition to win a place on a fact-finding trade mission to Dubai.

The competition, which was launched on 27th June as part of the Wales’ Largest Networking Breakfast at Cardiff City Stadium, aims to give businesses the chance to make new connections and explore opportunities in Dubai’s vibrant market place.

There are three places available on the trip, which is being run in conjunction with the Government of Dubai and the Dubai
Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, and as well as complimentary flights and accommodation, businesses will take part in a programme of events designed to maxmise exposure to relevant organisations.

It
is open to all members and customers of the South Wales Chamber of Commerce, Mid Wales Chamber of Commerce, Mid Wales Manufacturing Group and West Wales Exporters, that are based in Wales.
Graham Morgan, director of the South Wales Chamber of Commerce, said: “Dubai is one of the fastest growing cities in the world with an economy that is continuing to diversify into the trade, services and financial sectors.

“This trade mission represents a real opportunity for Welsh businesses to tap into that thriving economy, and Dubai’s central location also means that it has the potential to be a useful stepping stone into the Asian markets.

“Increasing export opportunities for Wales is vital, and the fact that the Government of Dubai is sponsoring this event shows that they are open and receptive to what we have to offer.

“I would urge all businesses who want to explore the Dubai market to put themselves forward for this rare opportunity and get in touch to find out more.”
Entries close on Monday 22nd July, with travel dates between 5th – 10th October 2013. Businesses that are shortlisted will be asked to give a presentation to the South Wales Chamber of Commerce’s International Trade Panel.

The competition was launched as part of the South Wales Chamber’s Wales’ Largest Networking Breakfast, which saw more than 260 members of the Welsh Business community take part in a facilitated networking event at Cardiff City Stadium.

The annual networking event, which was sponsored by Millfield Capital and Pinnacle Complete Office Solutions, saw businesses move between three tables to maximise the opportunities to make new contacts, with dedicated facilitators on hand to ensure networking ran smoothly.

Graham Morgan said: “Our breakfast event comes at the end of out very successful Business Advice Month, which has seen us hold over 25 events all over Wales.

“It was fantastic to see so many members of the Welsh business community under one roof, and I have no doubt that some important and long-lasting business connections were made today.

“I would like to thank the sponsors and everyone who worked hard to ensure the event was a success.”

The event also raised funds for the South Wales Chamber’s charities, Disability Sport Wales, Ty Hafan and Tenovus.

There were also congratulations for representatives of Millfield Capital and Pinnacle Complete Office Solutions, who completed the Three Peaks Challenge earlier in the year,  raising more than £15,000 for Tenovus.
