Commerce House, situated on Wade Lane in the heart of the northern quarter of Leeds city centre, is to become an additional office for StepChange Debt Charity in a property deal brokered by the Leeds offices of Jones Lang LaSalle and Carter Towler.
StepChange Debt Charity, formerly known as Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS), has agreed to take a ten year lease from landlord Mayfair Capital on the building’s second and third floors which total 10,440 sq ft. StepChange is an expanding charity that also has offices in Leeds at Wade House and Tower North Central.
Ian Cracknell from Step Change said: “Commerce House represented the ideal opportunity for us to expand our charity to meet the needs of society with problem debt in these difficult times. It provides good space at a very cost effective rental so it was an easy decision.”
Richard Thornton, director of office agency at Jones Lang LaSalle, added: “Commerce House suits the charity’s present and future needs and brings another quality tenant into the building.”
The charity first opened its dedicated debt advice centre in Leeds office in 1993. It has since taken 13 million calls; helping 1.5 million clients address £28 billion worth of debt.
