A Shropshire-based architectural workshop specialising in design and build has carried out an innovative revamp for a county truck and van company to allow it to carry out HGV MOT testing on site.
Design Forum Ltd, based on Bellstone in Shrewsbury, were selected from numerous tenders to carry out the work for Halesfield Truck and Van in Telford.
The work included a complete electrical re-wire of the entire building as well as roof improvements and repairs and the building of a new office.
But the most important aspect was the creation of a VOSA approved test facility to allow HGV vehicles to be MOT tested at Halesfield.
Stephen Ball, technical director, and his team at Design Forum worked on the project.
“We knew how important it was for Halesfield Trucks to be able to offer their customers a one-stop shop on their premises,” said Mr Ball.
“This major renovation will really put the company at the forefront of their business.
“Design Forum worked closely with Halesfield Trucks to make sure programming of the new renovations did not impede on their current building and the practical day-to-day running of their workshop.”
Andrew Davies, managing director of Halesfield Truck and Van said the renovations were an important part of the company’s commitment to its customers and DAF franchise.
“We took the strategic decision to undertake a comprehensive investment in the premises, including major electrical rework, renovation and new building projects.
“But foremost was the creation of a VOSA approved test lane, enabling HGV vehicles to be MOT tested at our own premises. This decision has ensured both existing and new customers flexibility and peace of mind, saving time and money and presenting a complete vehicle management package.”
Mr Davies said many companies were asked to quote for the project but Design Forum stood out as an “outstanding candidate”.
“We were impressed with their vision and recognition of our business needs whilst undertaking the major reworks.
“Stephen’s meticulous attention to detail and great conceptual ability and his team’s cheerful professionalism, adapting to the ever changing demands of our busy workshop on a daily basis, meant that the entire company was a pleasure to work with throughout.
“We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Design Forum to anyone looking for architectural design or construction management and we look forward to working with them again in the future,” he said.
