A Shropshire company has joined forces with Shrewsbury Town FC’s physio to open up a new state-of-the-art physiotherapy practice.
The PML Lab, a purpose-built human performance and assessment centre based in Oswestry, is building on recent successes to expand its services in the partnership with Chris Skitt.
And bosses say the new facility will vastly improve what it can offer to its clients both in the county and further afield.
The new physiotherapy practice has opened at the company head office in Willow Street.
Mr Skitt, who became the youngest physio in the Football League in 2011 when he was in his mid-20s, is bringing a vast experience in professional sport as well as in general physiotherapy practice to the new venture.
He said: “The opportunity to be part of The Lab and to expand my own business was a no brainer really and it did not take long for me to make the decision.
“The facilities at the Lab are world class and without doubt will help to provide much improved outcomes. There probably isn’t a better equipped private physiotherapy practice anywhere around.
“I am looking forward to bringing my skills to help people needing physiotherapy back on the road to recovery.”
The reputation of The Lab has continued to grow over the last two years in providing sport science and performance testing to a growing number of athletes locally, nationally and internationally.
And as the services offered have expanded it became clear that there was a increasing need for expert physiotherapy for clients at the PML Lab.
Jon Pither, executive director, said: “We have known Chris professionally for a number of years and we are really looking forward to offering a greater range of services for our clients which come from all walks of life, not just athletes.
“We are always considering ways in which we can improve what facilities we provide. Talking to Chris we knew that this was the right step to take.
“We believe the new physiotherapy practice can only build on the excellent reputation we have around the world.”
As well as offering physiotherapy and walk-in appointments, other therapies such as acupuncture, sports massage, pilates and kinesio taping will be available.
