Merthyr and Nelson based law firm, JNP Legal has selected two of its secretaries to be put forward for the Welsh Government supported Higher Apprenticeship in Legal Services, which is supported by the Sector Priorities Fund Pilot (SPFP) as part of the European Social Fund (ESF).
Claire Gwilt and Amanda Jones, both secretaries, have been with JNP Legal for more than five years and currently work within the Personal Injury department. JNP are especially keen to reward hardworking and dedicated employees with the opportunity to further their careers.
Rebecca Rees, solicitor at JNP Legal said: “Despite lacking the traditional academic qualifications for legal work, these candidates have demonstrated a consistent standard of hard work, as well as a real interest in the subject. They each have a desire to advance to a paralegal role within the firm in future years.”
Gwilt joined JNP Legal immediately after leaving college in 2007 and has since progressed from a junior typist position to her current role. Jones started working at the firm in 2004 as a secretary and has shown strong customer care and problem solving skills during her time at JNP Legal.
Giving dedicated employees the opportunity to gain a formal qualification in recognition of their effort and achievements is important to JNP Legal.
Rebecca Rees continues: “The training of administrative staff who we identify as having the potential to perform fee earning roles has been particularly important to us and having the opportunity to formalise this training by way of a Higher Apprenticeship is very timely, particularly in light of the challenging times the legal sector is facing.”
JNP Legal provides expertise in many areas of law including family, wills and probate, conveyancing and criminal law. Established in 1981, it has offices in both Merthyr and Nelson.
