Celebrity chef and Yorkshire Bank ambassador Brian Turner is preparing to put a group of Birmingham business owners through their paces at a cookery challenge.
Twelve customers of Yorkshire Bank’s Business and Private Banking Centre in Birmingham will be counting their red tomatoes or green peppers in the cook-off at The Orange Kitchen Cookery School at Becketts Farm, Wythall, Birmingham, on Thursday, June 6.
Brian will be making his first visit to the region since he was appointed as an ambassador of Yorkshire Bank.
Holly Beckett, of Becketts Farm, which has been a customer of Yorkshire Bank since 1995, said the farm was looking forward to emphasising the importance of provenance, quality products and diversification to the 12 businessmen and women attending.
She said: “Developing future chefs, team building days and the development of our farm shop has been made possible by the funding we have been given by Yorkshire Bank over the last 18 years – support which has enabled us to diversify and grow. We have found the Bank to be very supportive and understanding of our business and sector.”
Gareth Jones, head of commercial and small business banking at Yorkshire Bank in Temple Row, Birmingham, said it was appropriate to hold the cookery challenge at the home of the current Midlands Family Business of the Year.
He said: “Brian is well-known for his support of local food producers and their importance in the wider food and drink sector, which is so important to our economy. Beckett’s Farm is a fantastic example of a well-supported family business which produces and sells quality fare.”
