One of the UK’s longest established construction forums; the Forum for the Built Environment (fbe) has announced the appointment of Howard Gadd as National Chairman. Howard began his career in the building industry nearly 50 years ago as a trainee designer and since then, has worked in consultancy project management for Contracting, Development and Property. He then moved into Business Development and was head-hunted by his current employer Leadbitter Group in 2002, and was set the task of establishing the company in The South West and South Wales.
Howard’s vision for fbe is the continuation of its development as the premier construction and property membership organisation in the UK. Its role, as a forum for the wider expression of industry of opinion, is to be a place where open, constructive and meaningful debate will influence decision makers and at the same time be a useful introduction to new opportunities. The membership benefits from their involvement, awareness and increased acquaintance with the right people at the right time. The ideas that flow from branches and regions and the relationships that can be created through their activity is good for the membership and the industry as a whole.
Taking over from Phil Laycock, who was national chairman and president and served the organisation diligently for six years, bringing it to a new level of success, Howard commented: “Phil was the driving force behind raising fbe’s profile to national significance. Thank you Phil for your sterling work. I am proud to be taking up the office you served so auspiciously.”
Notes: fbe operates in 15 Regions, has 28 active Branches and approaching 1,500 members. Events are organised by Regions and Branches and they vary from informed breakfast meetings, Seminars, informal receptions and networking events, award ceremonies, formal dinners as well as entertaining events such Golf and Sailing days.
