Property consultants Alder King in Swindon have secured the freehold sale of a former NHS site at Brimble Hill, Wroughton in Wiltshire.
The 9.7 acre (3.96 hectare) site has been acquired by Swindon-based Ridgevale Developments Ltd for an undisclosed sum.
Ridgevale will apply for planning consent for a low density, quality residential development.
The site, previously owned by Swindon Primary Care Trust and Great Western Hospital Foundation Trust, was developed in 1942 to accommodate medical staff serving in the former Royal Alexandra Hospital in Wroughton. Oak House, owned by Swindon Primary Care Trust, was most recently used as a residential care home whilst use of Ash House, owned by Great Western Hospital Foundation Trust, ceased in 2002.
Alison Williams, associate at Alder King’s Swindon office, says: “The site was actively marketed for continuing residential institutional use but its rural location also makes it very attractive for a low density residential development. We see this as good use of a site which was falling into disrepair and will now be redeveloped to provide prestigious housing.”
A spokesperson for Ridgevale Estates commented: “Ridgevale is delighted to have secured the site and has instructed architects and agents to design a high quality, low density development which will sit sympathetically in this rural location.”
Alder King acted on behalf of Swindon Primary Care Trust and Great Western Hospital Foundation Trust. Ridgevale Developments represented itself.
