The Nottingham Business Improvement District (BID) is celebrating following the success of its latest 48 Hours of Fashion extravaganza that took place in the Old Market Square and across the city centre on 26 and 27 April.
Thousands visited the specially-erected marquee in the Old Market Square and got to see 48 Hours of Fashion’s unique, theatrical performances that not only highlighted the best in high street, designer and independent fashion, but also showcased Nottingham itself – a city that offers an unbeatable visitor experience, morning, noon and night!
The shows – often at full capacity – took place every hour and featured exciting music and atmospheric light projections of familiar scenes across Nottingham, and professional dancers posing in slow motion, synchronized movements, giving the audience the chance to see the stunning outfits they could all buy from Nottingham’s well-known brands and top independents.
Also amongst the crowds, with fashion bloggers and fashion media, were model scouts from London’s world-famous Elite agency, looking for their next Cindy Crawford or Gisele Bundchen!
“The shows were really good and really well-executed,” said Martina Kobesova from Elite Model Management London. “We’re always searching world-wide for talented, striking individuals and Nottingham is firmly on the map as one of our talent hot spots. We came away from 48 Hours of Fashion with some great contacts and we’re looking forward to attending the event again next year.”
Other VIP appearances included the Sheriff of Nottingham and the newly-crowned Miss Nottingham, Juliette Brashier, both of whom were quick to sing the praises of the quality of the event.
Miss Nottingham said: “I really enjoyed the event – it was much more interesting watching choreographed performances rather than people just walking down the catwalk, and I spotted a few things I wanted to buy!”
Fashion master classes took place every half past the hour from well-known names including Boots, John Lewis, House of Fraser and Lush, plus many of Nottingham’s retailers, coffee shops, bars and restaurants held fashion-focused events and special offers. This all helped us make 48 Hours of Fashion a tremendous success, with early feedback from both the public and retailers being hugely positive.
“There was lots of variety and I really enjoyed the show. I have been to lots of fashion shows in London and this compares really well,” said Zane Ruffin of Beeston, Nottinghamshire.
“The performances of the models, the music and atmosphere was fantastic! I loved the different sections of the show and the fact that there was an outfit to suit everyone. It definitely made me want to shop at some stores I wouldn’t have thought of visiting,” said Sue Faulkner from Breaston, Derbyshire.
