Corporate law firm Greenaway Scott has announced the promotion of Rhian Osborne to the position of Director.
Rhian Osborne, 28, from the Vale of Glamorgan, will have specific responsibility for the firm’s commercial and contracts division.
Having studied a degree in neuroscience before moving into law, Miss Osborne is tasked with growing the department by recruiting additional specialist lawyers with a first degree in either a science or maths discipline, in addition to their legal qualifications.
Having achieved distinctions in both her Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course from Swansea University, Miss Osborne trained at a Cardiff law firm before working in-house at a biotechnology company.
Rhian Osborne said: “I’m thrilled to be made a director of Greenaway Scott. The firm is dynamic in its approach and I’m excited by the opportunity to develop a legal team that is capable of providing specific legal advice based on a real understanding of our clients’ business and sector and the technology and terminology used.”
Nigel Greenaway, managing director of Greenaway Scott, said: “As a business, we are keen to ensure that legal advice is given with an absolute understanding of our clients’ markets and technology. Bringing through a director with a neuroscience degree and practical experience in a biotechnology company makes perfect sense for us as this niche element of our business continues to grow and the technology and bioscience markets in Wales continue to expand with the support of the Welsh Assembly. Rhian is extremely capable and determined and these qualities will stand her in good stead as she grows her department.”
Providing corporate, commercial and employment advice to companies, charities, co-operatives and community benefit societies, Greenaway Scott was set up by Nigel Greenaway in January of this year. Operating from a 2,000 sq ft office at The Maltings in Cardiff, Greenaway set up the firm with the aim of providing a new style of law firm by building a strong team of advisors that are highly commercial and business focussed.
