A Fareham businessman will step out of the boardroom and onto the stage in May as he puts on a charity gig to raise money for children and young people with life-limiting illnesses.
Frank Dixie, managing director of worldwide logistics company PSP, will put on a performance at The Station pub in Bitterne with his 10-piece live band, Harry Hammersmith and the Flyovers on May 9.
Frank is known to most in the business community as the man at the helm of a multi-million pound turnover operation and sponsor of the PSP Southampton Boat Show. But in his spare time he is the front man of the live soul band and uses the act to raise money for worthy causes in the region.
Money raised from the gig on May 9 will be given to Naomi House Children’s Hospice, a charity that PSP has supported during its sponsorship of the PSP Southampton Boat Show in previous years.
Frank said: “Naomi House is an amazing local charity that really touches our hearts here at PSP. We know that it needs to raise £7m every year so that it can carry on providing vital support to young people and their families across the South. This is why we’ve chosen it as our charity for the PSP Southampton Boat Show in the past and why we continue to raise money for it today.”
Harry Hammersmith and the Flyovers performs covers of popular soul songs by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and more modern artists such as Adele and Cee Lo Green. As well as Frank Dixie, other members of staff from PSP feature in the line up of guitarists, brass players, singers, drummers and pianists. They include marketing and PR manager Jo Dixie and logistics driver Graham Lacey.
Entry to the gig, which starts at 9pm, is free although a voluntary donation of £3 is suggested.
