One of Wales’ largest logistics companies has completed the purchase of four storage and warehousing units totalling 20,000sqft on the Severn Bridge Industrial Estate in Caldicot.
Hicks Logistics will be using the additional units to provide extra storage and distribution facilities for their existing and future customers, and also as the operations centre for the new FORTEC pallet network system they have recently joined to cover the BS postcode area.
It is expected that ten jobs will be created as a result of the expansion over the next 12 months with the possibility of more in the long term.
Hicks Logistics is a family owned and run company celebrating 35 years of trading in 2013. Managing Director Terry Hicks has been involved from the start and despite the difficult current economic conditions; the company has seen continued growth over the last decade and now has a fleet of 60 vehicles operating throughout the UK and Europe.
“When we were informed by M4 Property Consultants that the four units over the road from our Head Office could be purchased, the timing was just right. We needed to find additional space for the new services and these units are perfect for our requirements,” explained Mr Hicks.
M4 Property Consultants and Alder King are retained agents on behalf of First Investments Ltd on the estate. Dan Smith of M4 Property Consultant, who negotiated the deal said, “Due to its location and easy access to the rest of the UK via the motorway network, Severn Bridge Industrial Estate has been popular with a number of companies serving south Wales and the south west of England. We are delighted to have been involved in helping Hicks Logistics expand. It is great to see a local company doing so well and bringing more jobs to the area. ”
