National law firm Browne Jacobson has enhanced its commercial property team with the appointment of retail property consultant Richard Miller in its Nottingham office.
Richard joins from Leicester law firm Harvey Ingram Shakespeare where he established their retail team. As a well known figure not only in the region’s commercial property sector but also nationally, Richard has substantial contentious and non contentious experience in leasehold matters, acting for multiple retailers in all aspects of their property portfolios with a particular specialism in acquisitions, renewals, licences and disposals.
Richard has advised on some of the country’s flagship retail projects including Westfield at Derby, London and Stratford City and Highcross in Leicester. He has also been instructed by a wealth of high profile retail clients including, amongst others, Jones Bootmaker and Paperchase, during his distinguished 34 year career. Richard is currently President of the Rotary Club of Leicester.
Richard joins Browne Jacobson’s retail team at an exciting time. The team has had an exceptional twelve months acting for over 80 retail clients, many of whom are household names. The firm’s retail client list now includes high street retailers, department stores and niche retail organisations including designer labels, cosmetics companies, bakeries, motor and charities.
Sarah Parkinson, one of the lead retail partners at Browne Jacobson, commented:
“This appointment is a real coup for the firm. Richard is a well known heavy hitter in the sector and, like us, has worked on many of the country’s flagship retail projects. He has first rate credentials and excellent links with retailers, investors, property developers and agents and he is already forming a seamless addition to our team.”
Richard Miller, added: “I am delighted to be joining Browne Jacobson. Whilst the commercial property market, in particular retailing, remains challenging the team has certainly bucked the trend generating significant growth in recent years. I am looking forward to the opportunities that lie ahead both helping clients with their commercial property needs and being part of an ambitious commercially minded team.”
