Marking the latest milestone in its plans for Walsall, Stourbridge based developer, Cordwell Property Group has released a brand new image of its exciting proposal for the Littleton Centre – while award winning company Vue Entertainment has confirmed that it will be operating a state-of-the-art, nine-screen full digital cinema in the development.
Set to be the premier leisure destination in the ‘western’ quarter of the town, the Littleton Centre will be located in a highly visible and accessible site next to the new Tesco Extra and opposite Walsall College. The Littleton Centre will feature contemporary, architect designed buildings that will house the cinema complex on the first floor, while a selection of family-orientated cafes and restaurants, will be situated on the ground floor.
Cordwell Property Group has assembled a team of regionally based professionals to produce the proposal, which was submitted last month. The company has also announced that they will be using a local contractor, tradesmen and sub-contractors, who will be announced shortly, to construct the development.
Tom Wilcox of Cordwell believes the new development will bring many benefits to Walsall, “The new image is an accurate representation of how the Littleton Centre will look when it is up and running. It will be a bright, new contemporary addition to the town’s leisure facilities and is in an ideal position with the required facilities to attract people at all times of the day. It will be an iconic gateway statement to the Town Centre and benefit from 32,000 passing cars every day.
“We have achieved this outcome working closely with Walsall Council’s regeneration team for the last 12 months and we are delighted to bring this scheme forward for the benefit of the town”
“Having successfully worked with Vue on many occasions, we are very pleased that they have chosen our development as their preferred location in the town and have now signed a contract with us.
“The Littleton Centre and Vue Cinema proposal is both viable and deliverable, will boost the town’s regeneration and bring up to 200 jobs for local people with many more created during the construction programme.”
Vue believes that the Littleton Centre site offers many advantages over other possible locations in the town and has worked closely with Cordwell on a number of other successful cinema projects.
Geoff Moore, Property Director for Vue said, “Being in a prime location to attract cinema goers and readily accessible by both private and public transport, we are very confident that this will become one of the finest leisure destinations in the town and the region beyond. Having formally confirmed that we will be operating a state-of-the-art cinema, we are looking forward to creating an exciting sensory experience in the Littleton Centre.”
A detailed application was submitted to Walsall Council last month and is due to be considered in May 2013 and, if approved, work will start on the site within 3 months with Vue opening in Autumn 2014.
