The law firm Broadfield has acted for Book Aid International on the purchase of new warehousing in Swindon.
The purchase of the 15,298 sq ft double warehouse will act as the distribution hub for the charity which sends more than one million books every year to communities in Africa and around the world.
Book Aid International works with publishers to provide new books to schools, libraries and communities in hard-to-reach and isolated communities, supporting learning and education, health and social care, reference books and books for pleasure.
In 2024, Book Aid International distributed more than 1.3 million books, almost all of which were donated by publishers.
The Broadfield team was led by Property and Charity Partner Jonathan Fewster, supported by real Estate Associate Kinali Patel. Gerald Eve acted as agents to Book Aid International.
Jonathan said: “Book Aid International is an enormously well-respected charity working with publishers to provide individuals, healthcare and educators with books around the world. It needs modern, well-located warehousing to store and distribute more than one million books donated every year.
“We are delighted to have worked alongside the Book Aid International team on this purchase that will allow them to grow and work effectively.”
Alison Tweed, Chief Executive at Book Aid International said: “I am enormously grateful to Jonathan and Kinali at Broadfield. They stepped in at short notice to secure this important facility for us. We appreciate their hands-on approach and time support.”
