Savills, on behalf of a private client, has successfully completed the sale of the freehold of Plymouth’s historic Invicta Hotel to the owners of The Drake Hotel, off a £1.5 million guide price prior to auction.
The Invicta Hotel, a Grade II listed 4-star boutique hotel, boasts 23 en suite bedrooms, the Bowline Restaurant, Bar and Lounge. Dating back to 1852, it is reported to be Plymouth’s oldest lodging house.
On the lower ground floor, a self-contained function room with separate external access features its own bar and cloakrooms, accommodating approximately 65 guests. This versatile space operates independently from the hotel, enhancing its functionality without disrupting daily operations. Additionally, a terrace at the front of the hotel offers al fresco dining options.
Recent substantial investments have enhanced the first-floor bedrooms, restaurant and function room. The hotel enjoys a prime location overlooking Plymouth Hoe Park, near the Sea Front, Barbican, Plymouth Pavilions and the city centre.
James Greenslade, Director, Savills Hotels Capital Markets, says: “We are pleased to have facilitated the sale of this well-presented property on behalf of our clients. With the current owners retiring, the Invicta Hotel transitions to experienced hoteliers from the local area. Given its prime location and potential for further value add opportunities, the hotel is well positioned for continued success under its new ownership.”
Steven Cane, Associate, Savills Auctions, says: “After a lot of competition we are delighted to have assisted in a pre-auction sale of the Invicta Hotel. It was a pleasure working alongside our Hotels department and we are pleased to have achieved a positive result for our mutual client.”
