Glencar has been appointed as the main contractor to deliver Trehus, a landmark 79,200 sq ft mass timber-framed office building in Maidenhead that is set to redefine sustainable commercial development in Thames Valley.
As Phase 2 of the wider One Maidenhead masterplan, Trehus will be a sustainability-focussed office building, targeting net zero carbon emissions and achieving both BREEAM Outstanding and WELL Platinum certifications. Developed by HUB and its investor partner Smedvig, the project was unanimously approved by the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, commended for its “excellent standard of design” and recognised as an “exemplar future-proofed office building.”
Glencar will deliver the full construction and fit-out of Trehus, a sustainable timber-framed office building, at the One Maidenhead development in Maidenhead town centre, opposite the train station. The scope includes:
- Specialist Structural Delivery – Construction of a precision-engineered mass timber superstructure, featuring Baubuche LVL timber frame and CLT floor decks, requiring specialist sequencing and logistics.
- High-Performance Façade Construction – Installation of a real solid stone façade on an SFS backing frame, complemented by large timber/aluminium composite windows to achieve a thermally efficient building envelope.
- Mixed-Use Integration – Delivery of 6,700 sqm of commercial office space, incorporating ground-floor retail units, a fifth-floor external terrace, and a premium Cat A office fit-out.
- Complex Foundation & Core Works – Construction of a reinforced concrete raft ground slab, alongside reinforced concrete lift and toilet cores for structural stability.
- Full MEP Package – Installation of HVAC systems, sprinkler installations, intelligent lighting solutions, and a new sub-station to provide a fully integrated and energy-efficient building system.
- Public Realm Enhancements – Development of a high-quality, landscaped plaza, designed to enhance the surrounding urban environment.
- Premium Cat A Fit-Out – Delivery of a high-spec reception, raised access flooring, and fully integrated mechanical and electrical building systems.
