L-R: Thompsons Scotland LLP's Equity Partners Laura Connor, Patrick McGuire, Wendy Durie, Laura Blane and David Martyn.

Represented by Ryden, Thompsons Scotland LLP has secured new office space at 70 Wellington Street in Glasgow, a recently modernised and upgraded building owned by Clydebuilt Limited Partnership, a joint venture between Ediston and Strathclyde Pension Fund.

The social justice law firm has leased 11,800 sq. ft. over the entire 5th floor and part of the 3rd floor, which represents a significant upgrade from their premises on Bath Street where they have been based for over 25 years.

With a large workforce of over 100 people, Thompsons Scotland LLP sought office space that would provide better accessibility for their clients and improved working conditions for their staff. The bright modern premises at 70 Wellington Street offered the perfect option thanks to easy access, transport links and close proximity to city centre amenities.

The building has recently undergone a £2.55m refurbishment which included the creation of a new entrance foyer, the replacement of glazing and curtain walling and the installation of new staff wellbeing facilities, including showers, cycle storage, drying rooms and EV charging points.

Sustainability has been at the forefront of the wider refurbishment at 70 Wellington Street reducing environmental impact and carbon footprint while boosting the local economy. Thompsons Solicitors aligns with these values through responsible sourcing, waste reduction and upcycling in their operations where possible.

Andy McKinlay, Chairman of Ediston, commented:

“On behalf of Clydebuilt LP, Ediston are delighted to welcome Thompsons to 70 Wellington Street. The letting is testament to the significant capital investment committed to improve the building to create market-facing office, space with sustainability at its heart and a collaborative approach between landlord and tenant.”

Gillian Giles, Offices Agency Partner at Ryden, added:

“Ryden has been assisting Thompsons Scotland LLP with their property requirements for a number of years and we are delighted to have supported them in their relocation and helped them identify their perfect office accommodation.

“Although initially not part of the brief, the fit out of the third floor was designed to meet their specific requirements, with the landlord and tenant teams working seamlessly to create a bespoke work environment.”

The property’s common areas on the ground floor provide breakout space, kitchen, and co-working space, improving the building’s offering to the tenants.

In addition, the newly created “Workstation” suites also located on the ground floor and ranging from 450 to 1,550 sq ft are available for immediate occupation, while the first floor includes suites from 2,500 sq ft up to the 7,150 sq ft full floor.
