Ian Harris

Birmingham based, Nurton Developments has announced a new joint venture – Nurton Retail Ltd – led by industry specialist, Ian Harris.

Focused on sourcing and delivering both on and off-market retail and roadside development opportunities, the new venture combines Nurton Developments’ proven track record in property development with Ian’s 30 years’ experience in the sector.

Ian brings a wealth of expertise in site sourcing, planning, occupier engagement and construction management. His experience has been gained from roles with leading retailers Lidl and Wickes as well as Director positions at Capital and Regional’s ‘The Junction’ Retail Park Fund and CBRE.

For 12 years, Ian also operated his own development consultancy, working with high-profile clients including Hammerson Plc, Strathclyde Pension Fund, Mclaren Developments and Travis Perkins and has delivered over 1.5 million sq. ft. of retail space during his career.

Nurton Retail will target retail and roadside sites ranging from 0.5 to 10 acres, with a preference for high-visibility locations along major roads, with the aim of creating value for landowners and occupiers through the management of all aspects of the development process, from initial site identification and viability assessment to the achieving of planning consents, occupier collaboration, and construction delivery.

Commenting on the joint venture, Ian Harris said:

“I welcome the opportunity to join forces with Nurton who are well established and have a great reputation in the industry.

This collaboration brings together decades of experience in development and retail development and a shared commitment to identifying and delivering high-quality roadside and retail opportunities. With a hands-on approach and strong client and occupier relationships, we are well-positioned to meet the growing demand in this dynamic market sector.”

Nurton Retail has already begun leveraging Ian’s longstanding connections within the sector and is expected to start delivering a strong pipeline of projects in the coming year.

David Bradshaw, Manging Director at Nurton Developments, added:

“This is a sector we have had some success in previously, however our partnership with Ian is a gamechanger, offering unparalleled expertise and industry insight which will be instrumental in delivering growth opportunities.

“Together, we aim to deliver innovative developments that meet the needs of both occupiers and local communities.”
