Five companies have moved into a serviced offices provider in Southampton.

They signed up to nearly 3,000 sq ft between them, with a further two occupiers scaling up workspace, at Ocean Village Innovation Centre (OVIC).

Newsquest Media Group, one of the UK’s largest regional media groups with more than 250 news brands, magazines and trade publications, has 1,738 sq ft.

Mortgage recruitment specialist NRG Resourcing has 608 sq ft and, with 324 sq ft, Maclean International Group, which is a global distributor of hazardous area electrical, lighting, cable, MRO (maintenance, repairs and operations), tooling, safety and personal protection equipment and OEM (original equipment manufacturer) consumables and valves.

Action24 Healthcare, which provides personalised care and daily living assistance, is licensed for 265 sq ft and Spring Tide Studios has a dedicated desk.

Increasing workspace on site is Rheinmetall Electronics UK, signal and video processing specialists providing mission-ready technology to government, defence and homeland security markets, with around 300 sq ft.

CB Media, which has two main jobs boards – www.yotspot.com within the luxury yachting sector and www.villarecruit.com for private staff within households and estates – has an extra 250 sq ft.

Stephen Deller, OVIC’s centre manager, said: “With the latest signings, we now have 46 companies based here at OVIC – 32 on site and 14 virtuals.

“Not only are businesses attracted to the flexibility of workspace, meaning they can increase or decrease office size depending on operational requirements, but the complimentary business support our centres provide occupiers makes a tangible difference to performances as well.

“We are currently providing regular business support to six companies and 12 others have received further support this year in the form of general business support, investment, funding, grants, apprenticeships, HR and networking.”

With 30,000 sq ft of serviced offices and meeting rooms, and in-house business support, OVIC, which turns 14 this December, is run by Oxford Innovation Space on behalf of the building’s private owner.
