An independent renewable energy consultancy has announced the opening of a new office following a flurry of contract wins in Scotland’s private and public sector.
Launched in 1998, Cardiff-based Sustainable Energy Ltd will extend its operations into Edinburgh, Scotland to service contracts won with the Scottish NHS, BSW Timber and a government-led social housing scheme.
Dr Gabriel Gallagher, managing director of Sustainable Energy Ltd, commented: “We are delighted to announce Sustainable Energy Ltd’s expansion with a new office base. Our team has already completed some fantastic projects in the area and the awareness of our brand is growing. With further business now in the pipeline, creating a Scottish office was the next logical steps in the company’s development plans.”
The Scottish office, to be headed up by company managing director Dr Gabriel Gallagher and new recruit Dan Gates, aims to prevent 38,000t of C02 emissions and create £2m worth of savings for clients in the first year by offsetting fossil fuel and securing the government Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) for biomass heating projects in Scotland.
In 2012, Sustainable Energy Ltd designed and helped install two of the UK’s largest biomass plants, one being a 10 megawatts boiler, at BSW Timber’s Fort William site. For 2013, the team have been tasked with integrating large biomass systems into two NHS Highlands hospitals, two NHS Borders health centres and 37 social houses.
Allan Crooks, senior manager for Carbon Trust Scotland, added: “The NHS’ biomass project in Scotland is fully supported by the Carbon Trust, which endorses any cost-effective effort to cut carbon emissions and protect the environment. A large public sector organisation demonstrating the benefits of renewable energy is a positive case study for other businesses in Scotland considering their utility needs.”
Sustainable Energy Ltd has appointed local renewable energy expert, Dan, 37, as project manager for their new location. Dan will provide invaluable on-the-ground support for the company’s local contracts, using his eight years of experience in biomass technology and business contacts.
Dan, originally from Aberdeen, said of his new role: “Sustainable Energy Ltd is a well-respected consultancy with a solid reputation in Scotland’s renewable energy industry. I am delighted to work with the company’s array of specialists to grow the impact of biomass and hope my local knowledge and experience will complement their technical expertise to make a winning team.”
