Steve Williamson has been appointed as Head of Debt Origination UK & EMEA in CBRE’s Real Estate Finance division.
Steve joins from Deutsche Bank’s Commercial Real Estate Finance team where he spent 14 years, including three years running the origination desk at Eurohypo, when the bank was a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank. Most recently as Head of UK Origination, Mr. Williamson has structured loans for a wide range of property companies and institutions both in the UK and Europe, including the £305 million senior loan to Blackstone to finance its circa £600 million acquisition of eight Mint hotels. The loan was subsequently syndicated to GE Capital Real Estate, GIC Real Estate and M&G Investments.
Prior to Deutsche Bank, Mr. Williamson spent almost eight years at Hypo Real Estate Bank International, the trading name for the now nationalised Deutsche Pfandbriefbank, where he was responsible for growing the real estate senior debt origination platform.
CBRE’s Real Estate Finance team provides the full range of corporate, structured finance and capital raising services, together with non-discretionary investment advice for individual properties, portfolios, indirect ownership services and complex situations. This includes corporate recovery services, specialist wholesale unlisted equity raising and derivative brokerage across EMEA.
Stephen Hubbard, UK Chairman and Chairman of Real Estate Finance, CBRE said:
“The appointment of Steve is a major coup for CBRE as he will bring extensive experience and knowledge to our Real Estate Finance division, building on our existing capabilities in raising both debt and equity financing for clients in the UK and across EMEA.
“In a dynamic and gradually improving market, where funding is key to the progression of the industry, Steve’s record of innovation in the debt arena will help extend our offer in an increasingly vital area of the funding deck.”
Steve Williamson’s appointment follows the recent hires of Clarence Dixon as Chief Operating Officer and Gerard Nation as Head of Primary Servicing in CBRE’s Loan Servicing division.
