Gilbanks has revealed its design for the new 34,000 sq ft of flexible office space at No.1 St Michael’s in Manchester. The premium serviced office provider has appointed the award-
winning Ekho Studio to create a unique and contemporary design.
The office is designed to support professional businesses that require a dynamic and productive workspace. It also enhances No.1 St Michael’s Net Zero Carbon credentials with recycled materials and a proactive approach to waste reduction.
Commenting on the design, Alex Duckett, managing director of Gilbanks, said: “We undertook a rigorous international search for the best design consultants for our flagship development. Ekho Studio brought a collaborative and creative approach to meeting the brief and has created a workspace that sets a new standard for flexible workspace.”
Gilbanks has established a niche in the market by offering professional firms a premium working environment with high service levels and building strong business communities through strategic events and introductions.
Established by Sarah Dodsworth and Rachel Withey, Ekho Studio is an independent creative firm offering specialised interior design services.
Sarah Dodworth, co-founder of Ekho Studio, said: “Gilbanks brought a clear vision for the project that was centred around providing a world-class office environment that supported productivity and workers welfare. We bring a holistic approach to sustainably-led design. This project is environmentally light touch and avoiding waste underpins every aspect.”
The £400m St Michael’s project, located off Deansgate, will feature the five-star W Hotel, a public square, offices, and a rooftop restaurant. Hundreds of additional homes are also planned.
Construction commenced in January 2022, with completion due later this year. The scheme is being brought to the market through a collaboration between Relentless Developments and stakeholders KKR. Jones Hargreaves is supporting Gilbanks on this scheme with project management.
