Peel has announced that Charity Super.Mkt, the UK’s first-ever multi-charity shop, is set to open its next pop-up at premier southwest urban outlet Gloucester Quays. The 4,000 sq ft store will launch at the outlet on Thursday 14th March, introducing its popular ‘second-hand department store’ concept to a key entrance off High Orchard Street.
Charity Super.Mkt will bring together a curated collection of pre-loved fashion and accessories, including vintage denim, sports- and streetwear. Working closely with some of the UK’s most loved charities and several local operations, Charity Super.Mkt Gloucester Quays will introduce a rolling rotation of organisations throughout the duration of the pop-up, in order to cater to the high demand for space at the store. Charities will include Havens Hospices, Longfield Hospice, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, National Star, Traid and Acorn.
Following their first bricks-and-mortar format at Brent Cross in early 2023, which was so popular it hit its four-week target in just four days, the fashion concept has gone on to pop-up at a number of the UK’s leading retail and leisure destinations, including most recently at Fenwick of Bond Street, now joining Gloucester Quays for its debut appearance at an outlet.
The entrance of the multi-charity concept adds an increasingly appealing and relevant fashion element to the destination’s already diverse retail line-up, sitting comfortably within the outlet shopping environment, alongside the likes of PUMA, Timberland and NEXT.
Paul Carter, Asset Director at Peel L&P, added: “Charity Super.Mkt will be a fantastic addition to Gloucester Quays. Their huge success and growth in the past year or so mirrors our own, both down to a real understanding of consumer shopping motivations. Pre-loved fashion is a sector that is expanding quickly, and it sits naturally within an outlet environment, which is why we were so keen to introduce Charity Super.Mkt into our tenant mix. They’ll slot right in and will absolutely appeal to our dedicated customer base.”
Maria Chenoweth and Wayne Hemingway, Co-founders of Charity Super.Mkt, commented: “Charity Super.Mkt has proved in its first year that second-hand charity fashion can sit comfortably with high street and designer brands. From some of the UK’s busiest shopping centres shopping centres to world-renowned streets such as London’s Bond Street, Charity Super.Mkt has matched the turnover, brought in new customers and increased footfall. Now we move onto Gloucester Quays and are looking forward to working in a new city and welcoming its residents to experience charity retail in a way they have never seen it before.”
This news follows Gloucester Quays announcing two significant awards in 2023, focused on the destination’s increased emphasis on ESG performance. Earlier in the year, Gloucester Quays became the first UK shopping environment to achieve ‘Net Zero Carbon – Operational Energy’, in line with UKGBC’s Net Zero Carbon Buildings Framework, and followed that up with a 3* GRESB accreditation.
