A coalition of regional and national businesses have been given the private sector seal of approval to fly the flag for Nottingham at the world’s largest property investment event.
More than a dozen businesses with links to the area will attend MIPIM in Cannes, France, next month, grouping together as Team Nottingham to raise the profile of the city and the wider Nottinghamshire region.
Ahead of the event, Nottingham City Council and Invest in Nottingham have given the group their full backing to represent the city on a global stage.
It is the third consecutive year that the private sector has taken on the mantle of representing Nottingham at the annual gathering, which attracted more than 6,500 investors and an overall attendance of more than 22,500 property professionals.
Councillor David Mellen, leader of Nottingham City Council, said: “While the council aren’t attending MIPIM this year, we are fully supportive of the representatives from the city’s private property and regeneration sector who are going.
“It is an important event and we wish them all the success in flying the flag for Nottingham. Their work will help attract inward investment to the city, which will support jobs and economic prosperity within the city.
“Their presence will not only help showcase investment opportunities, but their work will support the city-wide ambitions of the new 10-year economic plan – which has been created to help boost our local economy, creating a vibrant, sustainable, and investment friendly Nottingham.”
The group was initially as a partnership between the public and private sector to celebrate the city as part of the Midlands Engine pavilion at the event, led by Lorraine Baggs of Invest in Nottingham.
Lorraine said: “Despite Invest in Nottingham not having an official presence at MIPIM this year, we are fully behind the private sector taking the baton for Team Nottingham and sharing the fantastic opportunities that are available in our city.
“At a time when the city is brimming with potential, it is vitally important to bring inward investment into the city to support our efforts to grow its economy and create new jobs and new opportunities for its people.”
The remaining members of Team Nottingham are being confirmed ahead of the international showcase event, which kicks off on Tuesday, 12 March.
