A health and safety expert who helped to successfully deliver the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham is going for gold with the launch of a new consultancy in the construction sector.
Pentadel Safety Management, led by Matt Statham, is an extension of Cheltenham Pentadel Project Management which designs and delivers complex engineering facilities across the UK.
Matt will work alongside construction contractors, including Warwick-based MCS Group, on the delivery of major projects across the UK. The company will also work with designers and support SME businesses on health and safety related matters.
The HSE professional has over 25 years’ experience in the construction and water industries in countries across the world, working at a senior level within various organisations.
Pentadel Safety Management will deliver a range of services including health and safety (H&S) consultancy, CDM regulation advice, principal designer, H&S audit, construction H&S, strategic H&S management for major projects, compliance management, consultant procurement, fire safety and workplace assessment.
As senior H&S lead at Lendlease Construction, Matt managed and promoted on-site H&S for the Commonwealth Games Athletes Village project which in stage two, legacy mode, became the Perry Barr residential scheme.
During these projects he developed strong working relationships with external stakeholders, the client team, representatives, designers and contractors. His work achieved the ROSPA Gold Award for the successful delivery of the major project.
He also achieved a British Safety Council audit result of five-star 97% for the largest sewage treatment plant in Europe with Severn Trent Water Ltd. Matt has also worked for multiple major civil and infrastructure projects including transportation, utility tunnels, pumping stations, sports facilities, stadiums, residential, retail, and commercial – in the UK, Qatar, and Bahrain.
His experience also includes being head of H&S for major projects at Canary Wharf in London, and health, safety and environment manager in Doha, Qatar.
