Onyx Business Parks, in collaboration with Devon County Council, has officially broken ground on Phase Two of the SkyPark development near Exeter, marking a significant milestone in the development of Exeter’s most significant commercial property initiative.
Phase Two of SkyPark will witness the construction of 36 cutting-edge business units, encompassing over 40,000 square feet of versatile commercial space. This development is expected to support 132 construction jobs and generate more than 288 highly skilled new jobs, solidifying Onyx Business Parks’ commitment to local employment and economic recovery.
Lewis Watts, sales manager at Onyx Business Parks, states “We have been encouraged by the number of inquiries we’ve received, indicating positivity in the South West Business Market. We have already taken reservations on twelve of the thirty-six units.’’
John Delve, construction manager at Onyx Business Parks adds ‘’This ambitious endeavour is a significant show of faith in the local economy and is poised to deliver substantial enhancements in job prospects and sustainability initiatives, bringing even more positivity to the local economy.’’
The units are being marketed by leading property consultancy Vickery Holman. Zach Maiden, Head of Vickery Holman’s Exeter office adds “We are pleased to be working with Onyx Business Parks on the South West’s most sought-after development locations. Working with Lewis, we have already had a lot of interest from local occupiers and investors. Given the scarcity of property designed to these high standards and with such excellent green credentials, we are confident that Phase 2 will be as quick to sell as Phase 1 was. The location, right by the M5 and A30 and next to Exeter Airport, means that the units will have wider appeal to the business community who value convenience alongside meeting their ESG values and commitments.’
In alignment with Skypark’s sustainability goals, the development will incorporate various eco-friendly features, including solar PV, EV charging points, covered bicycle storage, and insulated panel technology. The project aims to meet the BREEAM ‘Excellent’ benchmark, further emphasizing its commitment to environmental responsibility.
