Balfour Beatty, the international infrastructure company, has signed a deal to let additional premises in Derby through property expert Innes England.
With continued investment in the rail infrastructure sector, the company required additional office space to support its growing UK operations. The firm has taken the lease of two floors at the newly refurbished Quarnmill House in Sir Frank Whittle Road totalling 8,000 sq ft.
This deal comes off the back of Balfour Beatty’s acquisition of 20,000 sq ft of new offices at the adjacent Pentagon House, which was one the largest office deals in the city in 2012.
Working in more than 80 countries and with 300 local offices worldwide, Balfour Beatty has its elements of its utilities, fleet services and rail businesses in Derby and employs more than 850 people across the county.
Rob Harrison, property manager at Balfour Beatty said: “As a business we were looking for additional premises that offered us the considerable space we needed in a Derby location. As we already have a presence in neighbouring Pentagon House, it was important that we found a location that was close by. Innes England understood our needs and found us the ideal location and space promptly. I look forward to having the opportunity to working with them again in the future.”
Nick Hosking, director at the Innes England Derby office, is responsible for securing the deal and acted on behalf of client and Quarnmill House owner Oxford Regency.
Nick said: “My client has made a significant investment in the property with a full refurbishment carried out to a high standard. This good quality space combined with accessible road links along with the proximity to its existing premises made Quarnmill House an excellent fit for Balfour Beatty.”
Claudiu Grigoriu of Oxford Regency said: “We are delighted to welcome such a high profile company as Balfour Beatty to the building. The extensive refurbishment undertaken has been worthwhile to attract a well renowned multi-national company like Balfour Beatty, and look forward to developing a lasting working relationship going forwards.”
Surrounding occupiers to Quarnmill House include other prominent business names including Barclays Bank, Mott McDonald, Vinci, Chubb and Infomill.
