Award-winning national pet retailer, Just for Pets has expanded its operations, opening its first dog-only concept store in Cirencester.
Advised by Carter Jonas’ retail team, the business has signed a new 10-year lease at £30,000 per annum for a 1,476 sq ft standalone facility at 3-4 Brewery Court. The property has undergone extensive refurbishment having been vacant for several years.
The opening of DOG by Just for Pets marks the next chapter in the business’s growth strategy. The store focuses on dog health and wellbeing and provides high-end products from brands such as Barbour, Le Chameau, Oxfordshire-based Cocopup and George Barclay beds, as well as the chain’s popular packaging-free natural treats section and high meat foods. All team members have been trained by Hannah Molloy of Channel 4’s Puppy School in puppy socialisation, nutrition and force-free harness fittings, allowing them to provide excellent customer and the latest advice.
The retailer is now looking at other potential locations for its second DOG store, alongside its search for larger premises to accommodate several more Just for Pets sites. Carter Jonas is leading the search for suitable retail units of 2,500 – 6,500 sq ft in areas such as Bath, Cheltenham, Hereford and Stroud. Car parking is essential, and the focus is directed to roadside and edge-of-town properties and retail park locations.
Stuart Williams, Partner, Commercial, Carter Jonas said: “The opening of DOG is an innovative step change in the Just for Pets business model, and we are excited to be working with its team on requirements for additional dog-focused stores as well as larger units, catering for a wide variety of pets. Since we came on board in 2020, Just for Pets has opened seven new stores, and each offers a quality of service and great in-store experience supported by terrific teams whose enthusiasm for the community and their work shines through as soon as you walk through the door. It is no surprise that Just for Pets has chosen to harness this energy to introduce a dog-only concept, and I look forward to speaking with landlords over the coming months who might have the ideal spaces to accommodate each brand’s requirements.”
