Shared working provider Cubo has expanded at the heart of Paradise Birmingham by taking a further half a floor of space – 11,600 sq ft – at the iconic Two Chamberlain Square.
Cubo opened its existing 24,000 sq ft space in March 2022 and was met with instant demand from the city’s business community for its fresh take on the co-working model.
Cubo focuses on exceptional customer service as well as a friendly and accessible environment in which to work, meet and collaborate.
With a presence across six cities, including Birmingham, Edinburgh (opening 1 July), Derby, Nottingham, Leeds and Sheffield, and with expansion into Manchester later this year, Cubo is now the leading provider of co-working space in the East Midlands and Yorkshire, and is excited to be expanding its West Midlands base further.
When Cubo moved into Two Chamberlain Square in March 2022, it added another dimension to the range of commercial occupiers that call Paradise home. By now expanding its space, Cubo is cementing its role as a champion of local businesses and as an integral part of the Paradise commercial ecosystem.
Founded in 2020, Cubo expanded swiftly with a contemporary offer for occupiers looking for new ways of working and ways to connect.
Its Paradise space includes a choice of co-working and dedicated spaces that deliver a truly tailored working environment for the full range of businesses and organisations, large and small.
Ross Fittall, of Paradise development and asset manager MEPC, said: ‘Cubo has proved itself a significant addition to the Paradise offer and is a great match for our clients and the city’s business community when looking for co-working space.
‘It places flexible but high-quality space matched with top quality amenities and service at the heart of Paradise and expanding its footprint further enables it to offer its services and spaces to even more clients and occupiers.
‘We’re confident Cubo will continue to be an established part of the city’s business community and a real asset for the Paradise estate.’
Marc Brough, Managing Director of Cubo, said: ‘Encouraged by our huge success to date at Paradise, our move to increase our footprint underlines our strategy of building a national presence of co-working spaces for Millennial and Generation Z-led SMEs and corporate clients.
‘With locations in the very heart of thriving city centres like Birmingham, with transport connections on the doorstep and proximity to like-minded organisations and individuals, we are establishing essential new workplaces built on accessibility for the full range of clients.’
Cubo’s expansion follows on from other recent announcements at Paradise, including the plans to complete Phase Two and progress on Octagon, the world-first pure octagonal residential tower on the northern apex of the site.
Together, the total number of buildings completed, underway, or in the development pipeline as part of the overall Paradise masterplan, now stands at six.
Paradise has completed phase one of the development with One Chamberlain Square and Two Chamberlain Square providing some of the city’s best commercial views with stunning vistas across Chamberlain Square itself, and of Birmingham’s impressive Classical and Victorian civic architecture.
PwC, the leading professional services firm, moved its 2,000-strong team to One Chamberlain Square in January 2020. It has since been joined on the estate by DLA Piper, Cazenove Capital, Knights, Mazars and Atkins in Two Chamberlain Square.
Meanwhile, Arup is currently fitting out its space across three floors of One Centenary Way, while global financial operator Goldman Sachs has committed to taking four floors of space in the building to house its growing Birmingham team.
At almost 2 million square feet, Paradise is delivering up to ten new flagship buildings, offering offices, shops, bars, cafés, restaurants, a high-quality hotel and Octagon, the world-first 49 storey pure octagonal residential tower, along with a number of further amenities, across 17 acres in the heart of the city.
The Paradise redevelopment is being brought forward through Paradise Circus Limited Partnership (PCLP), a private-public joint venture with Birmingham City Council. The private sector funding is being managed by the international business of Federated Hermes, which has partnered with Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) on the first three commercial buildings. MEPC is the development and asset manager.
