Engineering consultancy Curtins has leased the fourth floor of the newly-refurbished Atlantic House office building on Tyndall Street in central Cardiff.
The company, which is moving from offices on Cathedral Road due to expansion, has signed a long-term lease on the 2,178 sq ft office suite. Property consultancy Knight Frank advised asset managers Tideway Investment Management Ltd and landlord Next Excel Ltd in the transaction.
Curtins joins dental and medical supplies distributor Henry Schein, which occupies the entire ground floor of Atlantic House.
Tom Eddolls of Knight Frank said: “The 21,159 sq ft building has been comprehensively refurbished throughout, including air conditioning, new lifts, EV charging and reception to provide a flexible, contemporary office space, which is in demand in the current market. Indeed, with take-up at a five year high, we have seen occupier focus shift towards quality and sustainability conscious office accommodation such as Atlantic House.
“Its central location next to the new Capital Quarter development in the Cardiff City Centre Enterprise Zone also gives it excellent profile while being within easy reach of all the city centre’s retail and leisure attractions.”
Curtins provides civil, structural and environmental engineering alongside other built environment services and has been established in South Wales for over 30 years. It works on a wide range of projects from small scale refurbishment projects up to large scale national new-build facilities, including the new International Convention Centre for Wales at Celtic Manor.
Dean Saxton, business unit director for Curtins commented: “Curtins has had a home in Cardiff for over 30 years, and in the eight years since I joined the business, I’ve seen Curtins continue to grow and make its mark in the region. With an expanding team and new ways of working post-covid, the time has come for us to relocate to a larger and modernised space that can accommodate the needs of our growing team.
“The space at Atlantic House has given us the flexibility to design a comfortable space that encourages collaboration and facilitates hybrid working practices, with breakout booths, one-to-one spaces and meeting areas.
“We’re looking forward to settling into our new office space and continuing our partnerships with clients and suppliers in the local area.”
Tom Eddolls added: “With flexible floorplates of 4,920 sq ft, the five-storey Atlantic House can accommodate requirements from 20 to 200 staff with numerous options for office configurations. We anticipate further strong demand from office occupiers seeking well-located quality accommodation within central Cardiff.”
